Brown Bag Lunches: professor Susan Kozel
This week the talk is in English!
Susan Kozel is known for artistic and philosophical work. She is applying phenomenology to sensory, affective and somatic practices. For the past two decades she has worked at the convergence between dance and digital technologies.
Susan Kozel was most recently the director of the Living Archives Research Project, funded by the Swedish National Research Council. Researchers in the project views archives as living social resources, which implies shedding the conception that archives are dormant, disembodied narratives of a dominant culture. The project analyzes and prototypes how digital archives for cultural heritage can become social resources, how they can facilitate social change, create cultural awareness and collective collaboration. As a Professor at the School of Art and Communication at Malmö University, she is teaching Embodied Interaction at the Interaction Design Master’s Program. Her publications include the Monograph Closer: Performance, Technologies, Phenomenology (MIT Press, 2007).
